Men Versus Women in the Online World - Stats Worth Holding On To

Wed, January 11, 2006

Tags: Email Marketing, Men, Statistics, Usage Behavior, Women

So here are some research tidbits to consider when developing your next campaign:

Men are more self-assured in the online information glut.
Men are more comfortable than women in navigating the frenetic, crazy mess that is the Information Superhighway.

Women communicate better than men
Women, the study says, are the better online communicators. Women use e-mail “in a more robust way” than men do -- “sharing news … planning events [and] forwarding … funny stories” to their family and friends.

Men slightly edge out women on transacting online
More online men than women perform online transactions (although it's a small margin); and 82 percent of men, as opposed to 77 percent of women, expect to find information on particular products they want to purchase.

It's an interesting read that gives good advice that you should consider before sending out that next wave of email blasts.
