What kind of Internet searcher are you? A few weeks back, AOL made a major boo-boo by releasing the search records of over 600,000 members. In short, it provided data that showed how and what these members searched for. Well, one company took all that data and broke these folks into ‘types of searchers’ which include the following: the pornhound, the manhunter, the shopper, the obsessive, the omnivore, the newbie and the basket case?
Notice under the shopper category that the search for ‘coupon’ is very common. I personally think more and more people are moving into this category. These are the folks that will type in ‘broadway discounts’ into Google and easily find a discount code to your show (assuming you have one out in the market). How could we ever expect these people to pay full price when a simply Google search leads them to offer codes on Broadway Box saving them almost 40%.
Thank you Rob for passing on this story. It’s quite interesting – take a read. Kudos to Avenue Q for being an inspiration to the category pornhound.
