The importance of being listed first in the search engines

In a follow-up to yesterday’s story, here is some more coverage on the AOL search records from WSJ.com. This information is SO interesting to me as the research clearly shows that search engines are a critical entry point for a majority of consumers using the web. This article points out one very important statistic that all Broadway marketers should be aware of - for those searchers who do click on something after entering a search term in AOL, in 42% of the time, they clicked on the first link presented to them. This shows the importance of being listed in the top slot of the primary search engines.

Anyway, I’m hooked on this story. Read more here.
